Rise and Shine with Troop 209

Troop 209's history is one immersed in the excellence of our outdoor program.  Troop 209 is chartered as the Friends of Troop 209.  We are a member the
Chippewa District in the Great Lakes Field Service Council of the Michigan Crossroads Council.

Our meeting location is on Selfridge Air National Guard Base, in Hangar 9W.  Our Troop meetings are on every Tuesday at 7:00 pm of each month during the school year and may change some locations during the summer months.

There are three Patrols: Merlin, Poison Dart Frog and Piranha
; we are a Scout-led Troop.

We camp at least once a month each month of the year.  Our goal is to use the outdoors to teach skills that will help Scouts build self-confidence.

Some of our favorite campouts are the Camp and Shoot, Skiing, Winter Survival, Dorchester International Brotherhood Camporee, Can-Am Camporee, and Family Camping at the Pinery.  We attend Summer Camp at Cole Canoe Base in Michigan.  Scouts from our unit have attended High Adventure camp-outs at Northern Tier in Canada, Sea BAse in Florida and and Philmont in New Mexico.

Troop 209 averages approximately 42 registered Scouts and 15 registered adult leaders.  Advancement is positively emphasized with over 90 Scouts earning the rank of Eagle since our charter February 1, 1973.
